20th/21st June - Return match against Aphrodite Bowling Club

The second leg of this Annual Challenge match took place on the evening of the 20th June, 2009, at the Aphrodite Bowling Club. From the Louis Phaethon point of view, another unsuccessful evening in terms of bowls as we lost by 22 shots over the five rinks. This added to the deficit of 13 shots carried over from the first leg meant a resounding victory for the Aphrodite Bowling Club. But we will be back next year!! However the rest of the evening and the early hours of the next day were a complete success as we seem to find it very easy to relax and enjoy ourselves post bowls, in the good company of our hosts at Aphrodite.

14th June - Car Treasure Hunt

This years event started at the Louis Phaethon Hotel car park and ended with a buffet lunch at the Pericles Taverna in Nata. The event was organised by Maria and Peter Milligan and both are very grateful to Pat and Ron Day for their invaluable assistance on the day, and to both members and guests who took part. The winners of the competition were Martin and Jean McMillan and Richard and Wendy Norman. See photo of most of the teams that took part

13th June - Charity Bowls Event, Aphrodite Bowls Club

May I thank you on behalf of Aphrodite Bowling Club for sending such an enthusiastic group of bowlers to our fete. As a result we have had two applications for training. They really looked very tired by the end of the day.
I was hoping to be able to tell you how much we raised but final figures are not in yet but it is in the region of €2000.The turn out was disappointing in spite of flooding the area with 2500 leaflets but I suppose we could argue that 'Make a wish' has €2000 more than they had a week ago. 6th June - Charity Bowls Event, Aliathon Bowls Club

26th May - Annual Challenge Fixture against Aphrodite Bowling Club

This is an annual event played between the two friendly rivals on a home and away basis. When the fixture commenced in 2007, the trophy to be played for was donated by Jimmy Allison, and that was the last time the Louis Phaethon held the trophy. This year is also going to be a bit of an uphill challenge for the Phaethon, as after the first leg, played this date, we trail the Aphrodite Bowling Club by 13 shots, having been beaten on 3 out of 5 rinks and losing by 82 - 69. The return match will take place on the evening of 20th June at Aphrodite, followed by a never to missed social evening, irrespective of the final outcome.
