Bowls Cyprus News Shirley and Ivan League It is proposed that we hold a series of two-hour squad training sessions for eight weeks leading up to the first match. These will begin at 17.30 on 22 July. This will enable our two qualified coaches – Mike Cooper and Allen Harvey – to assess everyone and put together suitable teams, with the help of the Match Secretary and the Club Captain. Due to the time of year, it may not be possible for everyone to attend every session and this is perfectly acceptable. It will, however, be necessary, for members interested in playing in this competition to take part in as many of the squad training sessions as possible. A notice will be displayed at the green asking for names and the members’ preferred playing positions – lead, two or skip.
Tens League 2010 2010 Tens League kicked off on 11th February, 2010, and ran for 10 weeks. LPBC entered two teams in the competition and finished fourth in both divisions, a bit of a comedown from 2009. However there's always next year!
Nationals 2009/10 The finals of the National Competitions 2009/10 were held on the 6th and 7th May, 2010 at the new Coral Bay Bowls Club. The event was very successful and resulted in Aphrodite winning 3 titles, Coral Bay winning 3 titles and Aliathon winning 6 titles. Hopefully we will play a part in the Finals next year!
International Front 2010 Unfortunately the Commonwealth Games Federation denied to Cyprus bowlers the accreditation necessary for them to take part in the games in Delhi. Both the Cyprus Commonwealth Games Association and Bowls Cyprus appealed the decision of the CGF but they have shown no flexibility in their decision and denied the Cyprus bowlers access to what were once called the "Happy Games".
