INTER-CLUB MIXED LEAGUE, RULES & REGULATIONS 2010

 

LEAGUE CO-ORDINATOR: Peter Milligan   (26654312 or 99937170)

 

1.                  This is an inter-club mixed triples league on behalf of Bowls Cyprus. Games will be 3 bowls and 18 ends. The league, this year will feature 6 teams, one each from Aphrodite and the Louis Phaethon, and two teams from both the Aliathon and Coral Bay.

2.                  All competitors must be fully paid up members of a member club of Bowls Cyprus. The competition is open to all classes of membership.

3.                  The triples league will be played to the ‘Laws of the Sport of Bowls – Crystal Mark Edition’ where no specific rule exists in this document.

4.                  Each side shall consist of 6 triples, 3 playing at home and 3 away; each side shall play all other sides twice.

5.                  At least 1 male and 1 female must be in each triple and be fully paid up members of the club they represent.

6.                  No player may represent more than one club during the term of the competition. No player may play for two teams from the one club.

7.                  All games shall be played on Thursdays with a nominal start time of 10am. Team captains may, by mutual agreement, alter the start time to compensate for unforeseen circumstances. Trial ends are optional but if played, must be completed before 10am or the mutually agreed start time.

8.                  All green fees shall be paid by the home club.

9.                  Points will be awarded as follows:-

            Each triple will be awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw at each venue.

            2 match points will be awarded for an overall shots win, 1 match point for a draw.

            Maximum points per match = 14 points

10.              All matches to be played on the specified date both home and away. If any triple of a side is unable to play, that triple will forfeit 6 shots and 2 points to their opponents. If any match is unable to be played or completed on the specified day for reasons beyond the control of the players then the fixture shall be treated as follows:

a.      if less than 12 ends have been completed the match will be re-arranged:

b.      if 12 or more ends have been completed, the score at that point will be recorded as the result.

c.      In the event of no play being possible, either on the original date, or the re-arranged date, the match will be abandoned and each team will be awarded 7 points each. Shots will not be awarded.

11.              The option of playing the number two at the head will be at the discretion of the individual and the skip.

12.              All scorecards for each club must show FULL names, scores agreed and finish times and must be signed by both Skips. The final scores must be phoned to the co-ordinator no later than 8pm on the day of the match by the Home Captain.

13.              The scorecards for each club shall be collected and forwarded to the co-ordinator as soon as possible.

14.              This competition shall be played in whites or club shirts if applicable.

15.              Club stickers must be used whilst playing in the league. Each club shall use only one colour sticker.

16.              Substitutes may only be used during a game if one of the team is unable to continue due to accident or illness. Any substitute shall conform to WB Law 57

17.              Dead ends shall be replayed in accordance with WB Law 31

18.              The toss of a coin by the captains prior to any trial ends or start of the match shall determine possession of the mat.

19.              The rinks of play must be allocated for the match. After completion of writing team names on the scorecards, they are turned face down and offered to the visiting captain who then writes a designated rink number on the reverse.

20.              Any objection raised by any club on any subject relating to this competition should first be raised through their club representative who will bring that objection to the Match Co-ordinator and, if necessary, the Match Committee.

21.              A qualified Umpire shall be appointed by the home club.

22.              The Umpire must ensure that play is continuous without any undue delay in the games.

23.              There will be a €20 entry fee for each side payable to the Match Co-ordinator, on behalf of Bowls Cyprus, before the commencement of the league.

24.              The start date of the league shall be Thursday 16 September 2010

25.              The Match Committee reserves the right to take action against any player or club contravening these rules.
